Artist Biography

Having grown up in Charleston, SC, Nicole Abe Titus gravitated towards art at an early age to escape her realities. ABE attended Ashley River Creative Arts Elementary School going on to attend Converse College in Spartanburg SC to recieve a BA. The artist began to professionally exhibit in 2022, participating in the inaugural group show at Julia Seabrook Gallery. In 2022 ABE also exhibited at the Art on Paper Fair, Hamptons Fine Art Fair and during Art Basel at Aqua Art Miami with Julia Seabrook Gallery. In 2023, ABE had her solo show ‘Narcissists Don’t Kill Themselves’ with Julia Seabrook Gallery. Abe will be included in the upcoming group show from April 2024 with Botanica Grove in Brooklyn, Healing Color: The Bioregenerative Aesthetic. ABE will be exhibiting work in the Detour 5 group show at Glen Hansen Gallery in June 2024 she is working on her next solo show ‘Spread Love’.

Artist Statement

Nicole Abe Titus gravitated towards art at an early age. Her painting style can be described abstract expressionism, while her overall art style is conceptual. Abe’s artworks use strong color and line, coupled with bold choice of shape that create a movement on canvas. There tends to be many floral and botanical references in her works. ABE was raised Pentecostal Christian, but gravitated towards a more spiritual outlook on life since going to college. Her fascination with discovering the truths of religion and adoration of Byzantine style artwork can be seen in many early pieces.
